Gerald S. Clancy, Sr.

Gerald S. Clancy, Sr., 90, of Marion, MA, died June 1, 2023 at home after a period of declining health.
Born in Brockton, MA, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Anzakowski) Clancy, he graduated from Whitman-Hanson public schools and was an accomplished athlete playing varsity and American Legion baseball. Gerry was a longtime resident of East Bridgewater, MA. He earned an associate degree in electrical engineering with an FCC First Class license in radio communications, and completed several in-house training programs from Westinghouse, Northrop and Motorola.
Gerry had more than 20 years of experience in the mobile communications industry. He was the New England Senior Project Manager at Motorola Communications and Electronics for 17 years, responsible for antenna site engineering and development for a 48-site network across 8 states. He was recognized for his accomplishments as Motorola's Field Engineer of the Year. After retiring from Motorola, he started Pisces Corp., a consulting company specializing in cell tower design, operation and network management, which he ran until his retirement in 2008. While working and raising his family, he designed and built every home he lived in, acting as general contractor, mason and electrician, and passed many of these invaluable skills on to his seven children. He was especially proud of the house he built in Marion, MA, where he moved in 1987 from East Bridgewater.
Throughout his life, he was active in his church and local community, volunteering for Saint John's (East Bridgewater) and Saint Rita's (Marion) parishes, and building the refreshment stand for the East Bridgewater HS booster club. He enjoyed golf, traveling and tinkering and the many activities around Marion. He was an accomplished draftsman and enjoyed drawing and painting, working in pen and ink and watercolor. He will be remembered for his incredible work ethic and determination, his generosity, and his devotion to family.
Gerry was predeceased by his brother and sister-in law, Joseph and Helen. He was also predeceased by his wife of 68 years, June Rose, who died 12 hours before on the same day.
Gerry is survived by five sons Gerald, Jr. (Elizabeth), Kevin, William, Thomas (Nanci) and Michael (Susan); two daughters Patricia Kashgagian (Greg) and Susan Dougherty (Dan); 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish his memory.
A Funeral Mass for June and Gerry will be held Friday, June 9th at 11 AM at St. Rita's Church in Marion, with the public invited to meet directly at Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Marion. Calling hours will be Thursday, June 8th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Mattapoisett. Robert F. Demers

Robert F. Demers, 84, of Mattapoisett passed away peacefully May 27, 2023 at home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was the husband of the late Mary F. (Keeler) Demers.
Born in Central Falls, RI, son of the late Albert and Germaine (Faubert) Demers, and brother of the late Albert Demers. Bob was raised in Needham before moving to Mattapoisett in 1964.
He began his career after his service in the Navy as a Needham police officer, later as a private investigator and finally settling into locksmithing, owning Corner Lock in Mattapoisett.
He enjoyed always being active and on the go. He loved being around family and friends, hosting gatherings, traveling, playing the lottery, and trips to Foxwoods. He had a fun sense of humor, was infamous for teasing anyone close to him and had a way with gag gifts. All of Bob's family gave him the nickname "cookie monster" as his love of cookies (and sweets) was stronger than almost anything else. Bob was loyal, dedicated, hardworking, and as honest as anyone could be.
Survivors include his 2 daughters, Michele Courville and her husband Timothy of New Bedford; Kathleen Demers and her partner John Vogt of Mattapoisett; Mike Rapoza, the son he never had, of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren, Alanna, Robert and his partner Marisela, Lucas, Sean and his fiancee Shayla, Julian and Benjamin; and 4 great-grandchildren, Jayson, Madison, Amelia and Ethan.
His visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 1st from 4-8 pm in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 2nd at 10 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

Paul I. Levine

Paul I. Levine, 89, of Mattapoisett died May 26, 2023 peacefully at Nemasket Healthcare Center.
He was the husband of Catherine J. "Kay" (Cousey) Levine.
Born in Fitchburg, MA. He was the son of the late Irving and Johanna (Kukkula) Levine, he was raised in Waterbury, CT before moving to Dorchester, then Needham, and finally his beloved Mattapoisett in 1969.
He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury Connecticut and earned a B.S. in Marketing at the University of Connecticut where he was a Phi Sigma Kappa member.
Mr. Levine was an active communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and was very active with St. Vincent De Paul. In addition, he was a Student Mentor at the Nativity Preparatory School. He also received the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River for his many years of service to his parish.
He was the proprietor of Fashion Corner Uniforms in Dartmouth for many years. Prior to that, he was a buyer for Filene's Department Store and later a Vice President of Sales at Whittenton Garment in Taunton.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Brooklyn, NY and Indianapolis, IN.
Mr. Levine enjoyed travel and formed the Mattapoisett Touring Company with his wife Kay, which allowed them to travel the world together with a wonderful group of friends.
Mr. Levine was a long-time member of the Mattapoisett Lions Club, holding numerous leadership roles and was involved in the Lion's Harbor Days and Road Race events. He was also the recipient of the Melvin Jones Award for his years of service to Lions Club.
He was a coach for Mattapoisett Youth basketball and Little League baseball.
He was also a Boston, then New England Patriots season ticket holder for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Paul Levine and his wife Charlotte of Los Angeles and Brian Levine of Mattapoisett; a daughter, Karen Jermstad and her husband David of Washington; 8 grandchildren, Brittany Levine, Tyler Levine, Paul R. Levine, Colin Levine, Jessica Livolsi, Katie Livolsi, Kevin Levine and Patrick Levine; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Last.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 7th at 9 am from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. Carolyn S. Titcomb

Carolyn S. Titcomb (Mattapoisett, MA). The United States of America lost one of its oldest and most loved citizens this past Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the age of 106 years, 46 days. In addition, Red Sox Nation and Patriot's Nation also lost one of their biggest fans. From April to October she could usually be found in front of her TV starting at 7:00pm cheering for her favorite Red Sox over the years: Pedro, Manny, Pedroia, Varitek, and of course Big Papi. In the fall, Carolyn could be found every Sunday cheering for her favorite players Gronkowski, Edelman, Welker, Vinatieri, and of course Tom Brady.
Carolyn passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home with her beautiful granddaughter Julie at her side. She was born and raised in Bridgewater, MA. Right from the start of her life, she was a strong woman having survived a case of the Spanish Flu in 1918 at 18 months old. She graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1934, and was a proud member of the Girl's Basketball Team. At the time, girls were only allowed to play on half of the court, because in the 1930s it was against the rules for the girls to run up and down the full length of the basketball court! She married her husband (because he had a motorcycle) and proudly raised her 2 boys during World War II when there were no men around because they were all off fighting in the war. During her lifetime, she lived in several places including Keene, NH, Brockton, MA, Assonet, MA, and Mattapoisett, MA. Carolyn was a proud member of the Republican Party dating back to 1933. The 90 year grudge against Democrats began because her father was the Postmaster of Bridgewater, MA, and at the time this position was affiliated with the political party of the President. When President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (a Democrat) was sworn into office in March of that year, her father lost his job in the height of the Great Depression. She never let that one go.
Carolyn was predeceased by her husband Millard Titcomb, her sister Jane (Carroll) Welch and her husband Donald, and her nephews David and Kenny Welch. She is survived by her sons Peter Titcomb (Supply, NC) and William Titcomb (Marion, MA), her daughter-in-law Sharon Titcomb, her grandsons Peter Jr. (wife Tracey), Timothy (wife Nancy), Julie Whittemore (husband Richard), and Joshua (wife Cathey), and her 7 great-grandchildren: Peter Titcomb III, Anna, Lillian, Jack, Rory, Axel, and Ellis. She is also remembered by her nephew David's partner Margo Melnicove of Wayland, MA.
A special Thank you goes out to her much loved Helper of many years, Ann Rodriguez, and her Nurse, Emily Field, who were also a part of her chosen family. Carolyn was loved by so many friends and extended family at the Mattapoisett Housing Authority's Village Court on 1 Acushnet Road. In her final days, she made the decision to generously donate her body to Harvard Medical School (HMS), to see if they can unlock some of the secrets in her body that lead to such a long and fulfilling life. If they don't find anything on the inside, here are just a few secrets she displayed throughout her life on the outside. When you tell someone you love them, say "love you to pieces," when you thank someone you know, say "thanks a million," when it comes to cell phones and social media, she would say "it isn't the real world" so put it away, give lots of hugs, think happy thoughts, count your blessings, make your bed every morning, don't be afraid to hold a nice long grudge, have a bowl of Cheerios with a banana every morning for breakfast, and eat lots of Little Debbie Snack Cakes!
In honor of Carolyn's wishes, there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Nurse Home Care/ Hospice of Fairhaven, MA.

Kenneth W. Sienkiewicz, 79, of Mattapoisett died May 13, 2023 at home.
He was the husband of the late Deborah A. (Nash) Sienkiewicz.
Born and raised in New Bedford, son of the late Stanley Sienkiewicz and Doris I. (Moreau) Allen, he lived in Mattapoisett most of his life.
He was formerly employed with New England Telephone for over 35 years until his retirement.
Mr. Sienkiewicz enjoyed family vacations, history and working on cars.
He was a member of the Fin Fur and Feather Club.
Survivors include his son, Marc Sienkiewicz of Fall River; 2 step-sons, Nathaniel Siegel and Jeremy Siegel, both of New York; a brother, Robert Allen of Leominister; a sister, Winifred Allen of New Hampshire; and a niece, Tammy Edwards of Sturbridge.

Mary Rose Ross

Mary Rose Ross, 95, of Marion MA. passed away after a brief illness on May 13, 2023.
Born in Brighton, MA. on July 18, 1927, daughter of the late Charlotte and John Doherty, she is survived by her daughter Valerie Ross of Medford, MA., a large extended family and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved sons James and Gregory and her siblings: John, William, Charlotte, Fred, and Paul.
As a young girl, Mary attended St. Joseph's Academy in Brighton, where she was encouraged to pursue her love of drawing. She went on to study painting at Massachusetts College of Art & Design from 1945 to 1948. Throughout her artistic journey, she explored a variety of mediums such as oils, acrylics, printmaking and designing compilations of found objects before discovering her passion for paper collages. Her collage work includes calming birches, swaying palm trees, seascapes, vases filled with flowers, quirky owls and mythical mermaids and have been shown in galleries from Florida to Maine. Prior to her retirement, Mary worked as the Art Director for Boston Parks & Recreation Department, teaching art to adults and children throughout the city.
Introduced to Marion in the early 60's, when she vacationed at her brother's summer home at Dexter Beach, she fell in love with this budding summer community, purchasing property and building a small cottage of her own. She joined the local art scene, volunteering at the Marion Art Center, helping with the Sidewalk Art Series, serving on the Hanging Committee and in a variety of other capacities. In 2018, Mary introduced monthly art shows at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center where professional and amateur artists are welcomed and encouraged to display their art work. In July 2022, Mary was honored with a retrospective show, "60 Years of Art" by the Marion Art Center.
Mary will be remembered as a teacher and mentor by many fledgling artists in the Marion Community. Family, friends and neighbors cherish her memory as a generous and kind person with a quick Irish wit. A memorial service is being planned by her family for a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to Marion's Council on Aging at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center, 465 Mill Street, Marion, Massachusetts 02738.

Mary will be remembered as a teacher and mentor by many fledgling artists in the Marion Community. Family, friends and neighbors cherish her memory as a generous and kind person with a quick Irish wit. A memorial service is being planned by her family for a later date. Thomas J. Medeiros, 83, of Rochester, passed away May 8, 2023, at home. He was the husband of Barbara G. (Robbins) Medeiros and the son of the late Joseph and Elsie (Corey) Medeiros.
He was born in Dartmouth and lived in Rochester for many years. He graduated from Dartmouth High School and Amherst College. He was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Medeiros worked as a Safety Officer and Phlebotomist at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Brockton for many years before retiring. After retiring, he worked at the Blueberry Farm in Rochester and was known as "The Blueberry Man".
He was a member of the Cromesett Tribe Order of the Redmen and the New Bedford-Wareham Lodge of Elks.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Barbara G. (Robbins) Medeiros; his children, Thomas J. Medeiros, Jr. of Rochester and Barbara Lee Medeiros of Wareham; a brother, Daniel Medeiros and his wife Judith of South Dartmouth; a grandson, Rhett J. Reed; 2 granddaughters. He was the brother of the late Noreen Medeiros.
Visiting hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Chapman Funerals & Cremations - WAREHAM, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.
His graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Rochester Center Cemetery, Dexter Ln., Rochester.

Philip Bruce Marcosa, 75, passed away in Colts Neck, New Jersey, on Monday, May 8, 2023 from complications related to Parkinson's Disease.
He was born in Chicago, IL and moved to Mattapoisett, MA as a child. He graduated from Old Rochester Regional High School and served in the United States Air Force in Vietnam in the K9 Security Division.
He worked briefly at Hiller Printing before starting his career in law enforcement with the Mattapoisett Police Department. He also held multiple additional jobs throughout the years, including as a bus driver for the ORR school district and an installation expert at Village Signs. In addition, Phil earned an associate degree in criminal justice from Bristol Community College. After 33 years with the force, he retired as a lieutenant.
Phil was a member of the Social Harmony Lodge in Wareham, MA and served as a Past Master. He was a motorcycle and Corvette enthusiast and loved day and weekend trips throughout New England with his wife and their friends. He was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. He firmly believed any day could be made better by a bowl of ice cream.
Phil and Cheryl retired to North Fort Myers, FL and enjoyed many years there, during which they were actively involved in the Parkinson's support community. Phil was often known to lead Parkinson's exercise groups and helped to educate many about living with the disease.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years, Cheryl (Heath) Marcosa, his younger brother, Louis Marcosa and his brother-in-law, Michael Heath. He is survived by his daughter, Stacey (Marcosa) Murphy of Point Pleasant, NJ, and grandchildren, Charlotte St. Martin and Declan Murphy, and by his son, Scott Marcosa and wife, Laurie Marcosa of North Smithfield, RI and grandchildren, Lexi Marcosa and Bradley Marcosa, as well as by his brother -in-law, Stephen Heath and wife, Meredith (Moore) Heath of Marion, MA and his sister-in-law, Rebecca (Heath) Bacon of St. Petersburg, FL.
Private services will be held at a later date.

Peter "P.J." Oleson Jr., 35, of Mattapoisett, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
Born in Boston, son of Peter and Beth (Dunn) Oleson, he was raised in Sudbury and lived in Mattapoisett most of his life.
Growing up in Sudbury is where P.J.'s love of fishing and hockey began. He moved the summer before his freshman year to Mattapoisett. He was a graduate of ORR High School class of 2006. He attended Bridgewater State College leaving to pursue his automotive passion. Where he excelled and graduated from Universal Technical Institute. P.J. worked as a Senior Master Technician for Ford, most recently working for Grieco Ford in Raynham. P.J.'s loves included drag racing at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire, building his own Mustang and spending time with his labs. He was a lifelong New England Sports fan, especially of the New England Patriots. P.J. loved winter snow storms and plowing for Consider It Dunn. P.J. was a devoted uncle and best friend to his father.
Survivors include his parents; his girlfriend, Laura Venturini; his sisters Courtney Aarsheim and her husband Eric, and Kate Oleson both of Mattapoisett; his nieces Kenzie and Rylan; his nephew Gavin; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 11 at 10 am in St. Anthony's Church, Mattapoisett. All are invited to meet directly at Church. His visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10th from 4-8 pm in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Road, Mattapoisett.

Janice A Kirby, 77, of Rochester, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday April 27th. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband George A Kirby III.
Janice was born in New Bedford MA, the daughter of Thomas and Catherine (Veary) Stringer.
Jan met George at the Portuguese Feast in 1963 and it was love at first sight, or as she so often said when reminiscing about 'Kirb', 'he took my breath away'. They married in the mid-sixties and raised their family in Rochester MA. Jan worked alongside her family as clerk at George Kirby Jr Paint Company. Janice loved country life, cooking, music and gardening. Over the years she had many loyal dogs. Jan was known as the 'Plant Lady' when she'd sell houseplants out of her greenhouse and the 'Soup Lady' when she'd deliver soup to Rochester's elders and neighbors. Jan was fun-loving and witty and happiest spending time at home visiting and laughing with family and friends. She had a unique sense of humor, a great laugh and loved scallops and Chinese food. Janice was especially fond of Sundays spent with her best friend, the late Elaine Gifford. Jan was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include: three children, George Kirby IV and wife Shari (Meyer) of Rochester, Michelle Kirby and husband Andy Hammerman of Ecuador and Rochester, Dean Adam Kirby of Auburn, MA, and Kathy (Stringer) who Janice and George raised, and husband Matt Brady of Auburn, MA; four grandchildren, George V and Yary (Moeuy) Kirby and great granddaughter Kaliyan, Zachary and Erica (Vozzella) Kirby, Samuel Kirby, and Katherine Grace Kirby. Siblings Dan (wife Linda Morgan) Stringer, Cheryl Stringer, sister-in-law Marie (Blanchard) Stringer (wife of the late James Stringer), Meryden Kirby (late husband Bruce Hartshorn) and Ruth-Ann Kirby Flynn (husband Charles Flynn). Three nieces, Shawn-Ann Schafler, Dana-lyn Hartley, Jessica Phaneuf and four nephews Mark Hartley, Matthew Hartley, Jonathan Stringer, Michael Stringer and many great nephews and nieces.
