Two mine rescue teams from Missouri University of Science and Technology will compete against seven professional and three student mine rescue teams during the 31st annual Missouri Mine Rescue Contest September 24-26 at Missouri S&T’s Experimental Mine.
Dana Resmini, a senior in mining engineering from Rochester is a member of one of Missouri S&T’s mine rescue teams.
The competition involves a mine disaster simulation that is set up and monitored by the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration. In addition to the rescue simulation, other events include first aid, gas testing and maintaining a complex self-contained breathing apparatus. Written exams are also administered.
