To the Editor:
You may be aware that there is an advertised meeting for January 17 at 6:30 pm in the Library meeting room. Since our Sesquicentennial celebration in 2007, this subcommittee of our Historical Commission has tried to keep the feeling of a close, culturally and historically rich community alive. We have offered a variety of events in spite of mosquitoes, high winds and torrential rain. In this process our committee has decreased in number due to those life obligations we all experience. Unfortunately, although the spirit is there, the people power is not.
We are asking for volunteers to assist this program to go forward in 2012. We are not asking a forever commitment but if you, or an organization you belong to, would be willing to help us out for this year, August 3-5, we would greatly appreciate it.
The meeting on January 17 will be the deciding factor. If we have a minimum of 10 volunteers, we will brain storm a theme and organize groups to produce the activities. If not, Heritage Days will not return in 2012.
In the past few years, we have received positive feedback from those who attended one or more event(s) and we really do not want to disappoint or let this feeling of community drift away. It will, however, take a bit more community involvement to bring it back in 2012. Please help us if you can.
Any questions, feel free to email theseamstress@verizon.net. Please put Heritage Days in the subject to assure delivery.
Thank You,
Bobbi Gaspar
