Virginia S. “Coochie” Vasconcelos, 82, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at her home after a long illness.
Born in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Faustino A. and Mary (Mello) Lopes. A longtime resident of Marion and Wareham, she worked as senior assembler for Lockheed Martin in Marion.
Virginia was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Wareham.
She is survived by her sons, Gino Vasconcelos and his girlfriend Andrea Gomes and Rick Vasconcelos both of Wareham, and Scott Vasconcelos and his wife Heidi of New Bedford; her siblings, Faustino A. Lopes, Jr. and Mary Louise Gomes both of Wareham, and Michael Lopes of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren, Jasmine Vasconcelos, Gino Vasconcelos and Lacey Vasconcelos-Brogioli and her husband Nicholas; her great grandchildren, Janaylah Vasconcelos and Avery Lynn Gomes. She was predeceased by her son, the late Joseph Vasconcelos, her brother the late Bobby Lopes, and her grandson, the late Joseph Xavier Vasconcelos.
Her funeral will be from Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Tues., Nov. 2, 2021 at 9 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 94 High St., Wareham at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
