Tena Mae Genthner, 75, from Plantation, Florida passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 from natural causes. Tena was born in 1945 in Acushnet, Massachusetts to Augustus Pease and his wife Eleanor Hathaway Pease Brunelle. She married Charles Samuel Genthner in 1966. Tena lived in many places during her life, including Mattapoisett, MA; Canton, OH; and finally, Miami, FL. She came to Florida to live with her family in 1976 and has been a resident since then. Tena was a devoted housewife for many years, an entrepreneur co-founding several businesses, including the most notable, Key Fire Hose Company in 1988.
She loved being near the water, especially on Straight Wharf in Nantucket where she spent many summers. She had a creative spirit, loved making crafts, taking pictures, and traveling with her family. She had so many dear friends that became her family. She always took the time to be sure everyone in her life knew that they were important.
Tena was proud of her family and their many accomplishments. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Charlie; her father, Augustus; and her mother, Eleanor. She is survived by her son, Charles Jr., his husband, Daniel Avila of Miami, FL; her son, Burke, his wife, Melissa and their son, Graham of Dothan, AL; her brother, Jeffrey, his wife Reidun and their daughter Nicole of Las Vegas, NV; and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Originally from Massachusetts, she wished to be laid to rest in her beloved town of Fairhaven. The wake will be on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the Fairlawn Mortuary, 180 Washington St, Fairhaven, MA from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The service and internment will follow on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 9:45 am at the family plot in the Riverside Cemetery, 274 Main Street, Fairhaven, MA. There will be a reception to follow.
