Robert L. Bowman, 83, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Sacred Heart Home in New Bedford after a period of declining health. He was the longtime companion of the late Wilma Wilson.
Born and raised in Mattapoisett, son of the late Walter and Florence (Foster) Bowman, he grew up attending the Mattapoisett Friends Meeting House. Robert had worked at Chamberlain Manufacturing for many years. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox.
He is survived by a daughter, Samantha Wilson of Florida; brothers, Walter Bowman of Fall River, Mark Bowman of South Dartmouth, Stanley Bowman of Acushnet, George and Carlton Bowman both of Florida and Neil Bowman of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Jesse and Kasey and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Bowman was the father of the late Robert L. Bowman, Jr. and was the brother of the late Douglas and William Bowman.
Calling hours are Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 2-5pm in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven. Cremation will follow and interment in the family lot in Pine Island Cemetery, Mattapoisett will be at a later date.
