March is Reading Month381 viewsThe students at Center School in Mattapoisett honored the month of the Young Reader and Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2. Children came dressed in stripes, wearing hats and toting copies of their favorite Dr. Seuss books. The cafeteria served green eggs and ham for lunch, and throughout the day, everyone enjoyed many of the wonderful books that Dr. Seuss wrote. Over 227 children and their families participated throughout the summer, and approximately 100 participants came to enjoy the ice cream at the social. Top Lions490 viewsOn Saturday, June 20th, the Mattapoisett Lions Club held its Installation of Officers for 2009-2010 at the Wamsutta Club in New Bedford. They were most fortunate to have New Bedford Lion, John Hoyle, a Past International Director of Lions Clubs International, serve as Installing Officer.
Lion Hoyle began by briefly instructing the incoming Board of Directors, Mattapoistt Lions Paul Levine, Clay King, Pierre Bernier and Jeff Swift in the importance of their duties.

Santa Arrives349 viewsMattapoisett held its annual holiday celebration and tree lighting on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Shipyard Park. The rain couldn't dampen holiday spirits as visitors enjoyed delicious food and listened to Christmas music performed by the Showstoppers.
