All of Old Rochester lined the side of Route 6 for a final farewell to Becket as Principal Mike Devoll stood solemnly as the procession passed beneath the giant U.S. flag suspended by two local ladder trucks. Miss Massachusetts Jillian Zucco260 viewsAs part of the Read Across America Program, Miss Massachusetts Jillian Zucco will be visiting 15 elementary schools across the Commonwealth this week to read to 1000+ children. On Monday, Jillian read to nine classrooms at two different schools, including Sippican School in Marion. There, she read stories and discussed the enjoyment and importance of reading every day. This year’s weather was a major improvement from last year’s soaking, but overall participation was down this year. 108th Annual Rochester Grange Fair 260 viewsThe 108th Annual Rochester Grange Fair was held on August 18 with a wide variety of produce, floral bouquets, baked goods, handicrafts, and works of art. The state first place winner for her diorama depicting a barn that contained fresh eggs and produce was Susan Guiducci of Dartmouth. There were a total of 35 entries vying for other blue ribbons in many other categories. Sue LaFluer, grange secretary and one of the fair organizers said that participants ranged in age from 6 years of age and beyond.
