Students used binoculars to view robins, cardinals, mourning doves and Canada geese. We also spoke about the Great Backyard Bird Count that took place February 17-20. Mattapoisett Woman's Club 264 viewsOn September 28, the garden group of the Mattapoisett Woman's Club brought shovels, clippers, trowels, and rakes to the badly overgrown butterfly garden at Center School and cleared out the overgrowth and weeds. The garden will be dedicated to Suzanne Sylvester who along with two other teachers designed, planted, and used this garden to teach students about butterflies. The pinewood derby is a tradition that was started back in 1963 in Manhattan Beach, California and persists to this day.
