2015 Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge267 viewsThe 2015 Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge on New Year’s Day at Town Beach in Mattapoisett was a splashing success, according to event coordinator Michelle Huggins. The third annual polar plunge raised nearly $10,000 to provide financial assistance to local families battling cancer. Many participants donned costumes, competing for the best costume trophy. Chili Cook-off267 viewsThe MattMen of Mattapoisett Congregational Church came together Sunday night, January 25th ,to see who amongst them cooks up the best man-made chili. Tasting was free to all who came. Those who wished to vote contributed $5 to The Baby Project of New Bedford. $518 was raised for The Baby Project. Out of 15 chili cooks who prepared 16 pots of chili, Rory McFee received the most votes for his “Smoky Chili.”. Bob Field’s “Oyster Chili” came in second place. Photo by Felix Perez

Both members completed ten speeches from the Competent Communicator manual. Frost is from Plymouth and Galavotti is from Mattapoisett. Toastmasters provides public speaking and leadership training in a friendly, supportive environment.

2015 Tri-Town Relay for Life267 viewsThe 2015 Tri-Town Relay for Life raised over $35,000 this year, with proceeds going to benefit The American Cancer Society. The all-night event at the Old Rochester Regional High School track is a special event when the community honors cancer survivors and remembers loved ones who lost their battle with cancer, in addition to raising funds for a cure. Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride 267 viewsIt was a windy ride for the 120 participants of the 9th Annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride on October 4. From Westport to Falmouth, cyclists rode either the 75-mile or 35-mile route to raise funds for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, bringing in nearly $90,000. This was the last after-school program for 2015, and the students had a chance to have some fun decorating as well as enjoying snacks and slides of the past year's programs.
