Marion Boy Scouts319 viewsTroop 32 Marion Boy Scouts and their parents went on a ski trip on February 22, 2015 to Ragged Mountain. Some of what Boy Scouts is about is exposure to new things, so Ragged Mountain was a good choice as a beginner’s mountain. Two of the Scouts and two of the parents (and even a Scout sibling) started the day with a beginner’s lesson, Chris Horton on a snowboard.

Mattapoisett Firefighter’s Association319 viewsThe Mattapoisett Firefighter’s Association hosted a chowder competition on September 13 on the Mattapoisett Knights of Columbus grounds. Between 300 and 400 guests came to sample the chowder of 16 different teams, split into two categories: public safety and professional. The course takes runners from Tabor Academy down Front Street through the village and back again to Tabor. Participants told “life stories,” sharing decades of experiences from careers, to marriages, to children and grandchildren. Marion Natural History Museum319 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum wishes to thank Jim Pierson for a wonderful program on collecting rocks and fossils. We learned about geology vs. paleontology equipment and how fossils are made. We also had a chance to make our own Megladon tooth to take home. The museum also wishes to thank Sarah Porter, and parent volunteers Wendy Copps and Marcia Waldron, for their help during the event.
