ORR Hockey277 viewsOn Saturday, January 19, the Old Rochester Regional Varsity Ice Hockey Team ventured to the John Gallo Ice Arena in Bourne to face off against the Wareham Vikings. Members of the ORR team check out the scoreboard, which was quite active all night. The official score for the game was 12-2 in ORR’s favor, however, the scoreboard stopped keeping score at 8-2 due to the landslide victory. The win marked ORR’s sixth of the season, while the Vikings haven’t recorded a win yet. Photo by Felix Perez.

The festivities included the National Anthem sung by Jennel Garcia and opening pitches thrown by Police Chief’s Lincoln Miller (Marion), Mary Lyons (Mattapoisett), and Paul McGee (Rochester), as well as Fire Chiefs Thomas Joyce (Marion), Andrew Murray (Mattapoisett) and Scott Weigel (Rochester). 42nd Annual Buzzards Bay Regatta277 views The 42nd Annual Buzzards Bay Regatta sailed on despite heavy rain and chilly temperatures the weekend of August 1 through the 3rd. The BBR, which takes place in Sippican Harbor, is the largest multi-class regatta in the country, with about 450 boats and over 1,100 sailors participating across 15 different classes. Christmas Wreath Sale 277 viewsTeam “Sole Survivor” held its annual Christmas wreath sale last weekend beginning on Black Friday, and they will continue to sell hand-decorated wreaths and crafts throughout this weekend while supplies last. Marion Natural History Museum277 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's after-school group enjoyed working on crafts made from natural and recycled materials last Wednesday. This was the last after-school program for 2015, and the students had a chance to have some fun decorating as well as enjoying snacks and slides of the past year's programs. Turtle277 viewsSome of the residents of Jenney Lane at The Cove in Marion have found a new passion in rescuing diamond-backed terrapin eggs and safely releasing the hatchlings into the wild. A private neighborhood group, along with “Turtle Guy” Don Lewis and wife Sue Weiber Nourse, created a terrapin habitat restoration project knows as the turtle garden at The Cove.
