SLT Oyster Fest 352 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust’s Beer and Oyster Fest fundraiser was a hit despite the threat of approaching Hurricane Dorian, which was replaced with blue skies just in time, and holding the event earlier in the day mitigated the guests’ exposure to EEE-carrying mosquitos. Marion Beautification Initiative352 viewsThe Marion Beautification Initiative, made up of members from the Marion Garden Group, is excited to finally have the new reader board installed at the corner of Routes 6 and 105. With their mission statement, “To identify and improve strategic public areas within Marion by enhancing them with gardens and landscaping,” the group has used donated funds to target specific town-owned areas to add beautiful landscaping. Family Fun Festival 352 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home.
