Plymouth Sands Trail Riders 276 viewsOn Sunday, October 28, the Plymouth Sands Trail Riders bike club held a hare scramble at the Mattapoisett landfill. The club, which boasts over 300 members from all around New England, had over 100 riders participate in the event. Riders from teens up to seniors took off for the 40 minute races around the 2.5 mile wooded track. The BBR, which takes place in Sippican Harbor, is the largest multi-class regatta in the country, with about 450 boats and over 1,100 sailors participating across 15 different classes. Waste Water Treatment276 viewsIn the aeration basins, water is bubbled and oxygenated, and bacteria are introduced into the mix to break down remaining suspended solids until it’s 90% clear. The water is disinfected with UV light before being discharged to an outfall point at the intersection of Main and Church Streets in Fairhaven into New Bedford Harbor. (Hopefully that lifesaver has never been needed.)
