SLT Oyster Fest 321 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust’s Beer and Oyster Fest fundraiser was a hit despite the threat of approaching Hurricane Dorian, which was replaced with blue skies just in time, and holding the event earlier in the day mitigated the guests’ exposure to EEE-carrying mosquitos. Rochester Scout321 viewsRochester Lions Club members joined forces again on December 15 with Scout Troop 31 and other community volunteers at the Council on Aging to help make the COA’s Christmas Holiday Dinner program successful. Scouts packed 68 Christmas dinner bags of turkey, fresh vegetables, and all the fixings for delivery. The Rochester Lions Club works hard all year to raise the funds to provide these holiday meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas to area seniors and families in need.

High Winds and Waves321 viewsOn February 7, rain and high winds hit Southeastern Massachusetts, resulting in thousands of electrical outages. The hardest hit in the Tri-Town area was Rochester with more than 500 Eversource customers reporting wires down and service interruptions from mid-afternoon into the night. Grandparent's Day320 viewsIt was a perfect autumn day for the SouthCoast Senior Resource Alliance Grandparents Day at Hiller Farm in Rochester on September 19. Children and their grandparents had fun playing bean-bag toss, bocce, posing with the Three Stooges, and more. The face-painting and petting zoo areas were a complete hit! Delightful Trees320 viewsA Decorating Committee from the Sippican Womans Club produced over 50 festive trees for the Tree Spree, which started in Handys Tavern. The tavern was decked out with themed trees, including a Barbie tree, a Hannukah tree, a Mallard duck tree, and even a tree decorated with recycled items like bottles and plastic bags. Santa's Arrival320 viewsMarion children gave a rock stars welcome to Santa Claus, who arrived at Marions Annual Holiday Stroll by boat on December 13. The pouring rain didnt stop Santa from spreading candy and holiday cheer to the crowd of exciting children.
