MAC Show327 viewsA two-person show will be opening at the Marion Art Center on February 28 with a reception to meet the artists from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The first exhibit, entitled “Beauty in the Boatyard – Ten Years at Burr Brothers” is by artist Terry Coleman, and the second exhibit entitled “Landscapes and Figures, Real and Imaginary” is by artist Molly Watson Hawley. Both artists have ties to New England and Marion.

Mom's Running327 viewsOver 600 runners came to Mattapoisett on May 9, 2010 to celebrate mom in the fourth annual Tiara Classic 5K road race. This year’s race had more runners than ever, despite the wind and cold temperatures. Marion 5K327 viewsApproximately 448 runners participated in the 14th Annual Marion Village 5K on June 26, 2010. The community race raised approximately $6,000 for the Marion Recreational Committee that maintains playground equipment, baseball fields and otherwise enhances the recreational opportunities in Marion. 22-year old Brendan Medeiros of Fall River finished in first place with a time of 16:47. Police Dedication327 viewsThe public was invited to a building dedication and ceremony for the new Marion police station on July 10, 2010. The town appropriated $3.8 million for the new building, which replaces the old police station on Spring Street. Among those in attendance were Police Chief Lincoln Miller, the Marion police department, the Board of Selectmen, Town Administrator Paul Dawson, Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph McDonald and members of the Police Station Building Committee.
