Family Fun Festival 386 viewsFamilies came out in record numbers to enjoy the 4th Annual Fall Free Family Fun Festival sponsored by the Mattapoisett’s Lion Club on October 19 held at Shipyard Park. Bruce Rocha of the club estimated attendance at over 400. Kids and adults alike enjoyed free face painting, bowling with pumpkins, a corn hole toss, snacks, hayrides to Ned’s Point and, yes, free pumpkins to take home. Mattapoisett YMCA386 viewsOn Sunday, October 20, the Mattapoisett YMCA hosted its first annual Harbor Brew Fest. Participants enjoyed this sunny day of local brew tastings, live music by Sean Carney, and fresh scallops, while overlooking beautiful Mattapoisett Harbor. A bonfire on the beach accompanied by a smores bar added to the fun. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Mattapoisett YMCA’s Annual Campaign that helps deserving children attend summer camp, preschool and afterschool care.

DECA is a program dedicated to preparing young students for the real world. Specifically, it focuses on a wide variety of business subjects, from management to accounting to tourism. There is something for everyone to do in DECA, and there is something for everyone to get out of DECA. There are over 250,000 members nationwide, and a striking 50 students at Old Rochester.

High Winds and Waves386 viewsOn February 7, rain and high winds hit Southeastern Massachusetts, resulting in thousands of electrical outages. The hardest hit in the Tri-Town area was Rochester with more than 500 Eversource customers reporting wires down and service interruptions from mid-afternoon into the night.
