Kansanga Parents Primary School in Uganda298 viewsStudents from the Kansanga Parents Primary School in Uganda hold donated books they received from students of Old Hammondtown School. Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol 298 viewsYes, the Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol really does exist and, yes, people actually do win – just ask John Hall of Rochester! Wearing only socks on his feet, Hall exited his Snipatuit Road home on April 15 and was greeted by PCH Prize Patroller Howie Guja who was holding a giant check for $50,000 with Hall’s name on it, roses, and a bottle of bubbly. Cardboard Boats298 viewsSCOPE Week meant big fun at the beach in Mattapoisett for ORR Junior High seventh-graders who built their own boats and then raced them on June 5 in Mattapoisett. While half the students head off for Survival, the others enjoy a week of equally challenging tasks of the 40-year tradition of SCOPE that gives students a chance to learn while learning about themselves and each other. Survival Week 298 viewsSurvival Week is as much a test of ORR seventh-grade students’ wilderness survival skills as it is a test of their parents’ ability to make the most of the week without their kids. On Sunday, June 9, parents, siblings, and family pets waited eagerly for their children’s arrival from Survival 2019. After a few big hugs, parents whisked their kids away to home and a hot shower. Marion Natural History Museum298 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum had a great time learning how to identify some of our rare turtles and what to do if we find one. We found out which is our smelliest turtle and which can close up into a "box" so tight you can't even slip a piece of paper between its shell. The students had a chance to get up close with a diamondback terrapin, an Eastern box turtle, and an enormous Plymouth red-bellied cooter. Many thanks to Brian Bastarach of Bristol County Agricultural High School’s Natural Resources Dep

The public was welcome to tour the facilities, and children enjoyed exploring all the engines available at the station.
