Marion Natural History Museum319 viewsOn November 14, the Marion Natural History Museum's after-school group enjoyed learning about what it takes to become a geologist and a paleontologist. We tried out some of the equipment and discussed working conditions. We learned about the three different types of rocks – sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic, and how they form, and inspected various rocks and minerals and fossils presenter Jim Pierson has collected over the years.

Survival Week 319 viewsSurvival Week is as much a test of ORR seventh-grade students’ wilderness survival skills as it is a test of their parents’ ability to make the most of the week without their kids. On Sunday, June 9, parents, siblings, and family pets waited eagerly for their children’s arrival from Survival 2019. After a few big hugs, parents whisked their kids away to home and a hot shower. SLT Oyster Fest 319 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust’s Beer and Oyster Fest fundraiser was a hit despite the threat of approaching Hurricane Dorian, which was replaced with blue skies just in time, and holding the event earlier in the day mitigated the guests’ exposure to EEE-carrying mosquitos. The SLT sold 214 tickets and was pleased with the turnout. Photos by Shawn Sweet and Lauren Boucher.
