Memorial Day364 viewsThe Florence Eastman Post 220 in Mattapoisett hosted the town’s Memorial Day observance and parade on May 31, 2010. The ceremony began with a service at the Veteran’s monument in front of the library, and then a parade assembled and marched to the town wharf and to Cushing Cemetery. Harbor Days Craze364 viewsThe town gazebo was the scene of another sultry Harbor Days this past weekend. Rows of vendors peddled their fun wares while visitors of all ages enjoyed music, conversation and the best strawberry shortcake in the world. Hurricane Irene364 viewsAlthough wind gusts teetered on hurricane strength, Irene was a tropical storm as she made landfall in the Tri-Town on August 28, 2011. The storm knocked out electricity for over 200,000 NSTAR customers in Massachusetts. On Tuesday, as The Wanderer was being sent to the printer, many Mattapoisett residents were still without power. Christmas Day Swim364 viewsHelping Hands and Hooves hosed their 11th annual Christmas Day Swim at 11:00 am at the Mattapoisett Town Beach. Helping Hands and Hooves is a non-profit (based in Mattapoisett) that is dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding lessons for adults with disabilities. Smoke at the Kinsale364 viewsThe Mattapoisett Fire Department had an early morning call to the Kinsale Inn on January 5, 2012. The first officer on scene reported that there was smoke in the building and that all occupants had safely exited. Ironman364 viewsMattapoisett native Shane Wilhelmsen completed the Ironman competition in Mont Tremblant, Canada on Sunday, August 19.
