Old Rochester Little League411 viewsThe Old Rochester Little League celebrated its Opening Day of the 2016 season on Saturday, April 30 at Gifford Park off Dexter Road in Rochester. The young athletes took part in the traditional Opening Day parade, which began at Dexter Park and concluded at Dexter Field. The players then circled the field for the National Anthem, with a flyover by Glenn Lawrence in his plane. After opening ceremonies, the first games of the season were held. Photo by Colin Veitch

Old Colony Highlanders Pipe Band 411 viewsOld Colony Highlanders Pipe Band recently traveled to Loon Mountain in Lincoln, New Hampshire to compete in the New England Championships pipe band competition. Old Colony Highlanders came in second place overall in the championships in a field of fifteen bands.This was no small feat considering that this is the band’s first year of competing. Rochester turned 340 411 viewsHey, hey, it’s your birthday, Rochester! Rochester turned 340 years old on June 4, and the third grade class from RMS was invited to celebrate with some cake and ice cream at the senior center on Tuesday. Students started the day with a tour around historic Rochester before breaking for lunch and sharing a large birthday cake with seniors. Students also received a free “Rochester 340” t-shirt, courtesy of a grant that funded the students’ birthday gifts. Photos by Jean Perry
