Old Rochester Little League370 viewsThe Old Rochester Little League celebrated its Opening Day of the 2016 season on Saturday, April 30 at Gifford Park off Dexter Road in Rochester. The young athletes took part in the traditional Opening Day parade, which began at Dexter Park and concluded at Dexter Field. The hardest hit in the Tri-Town area was Rochester with more than 500 Eversource customers reporting wires down and service interruptions from mid-afternoon into the night. Mattapoisett Woman’s Club370 viewsThe Mattapoisett Woman’s Club planted 1,500 King Alfred trumpet daffodil bulbs last fall. Today the glory of that effort is in full bloom across the community. Club member Roxanne Bungert spearheaded the effort after visiting Newport Rhode Island, where as many as one million bulbs have been planted over the years she attested. “We planted in several locations around town with the support and assistance of the Highway Department,” she said.
