SLT Oyster Fest 345 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust’s Beer and Oyster Fest fundraiser was a hit despite the threat of approaching Hurricane Dorian, which was replaced with blue skies just in time, and holding the event earlier in the day mitigated the guests’ exposure to EEE-carrying mosquitos. Waterman school, which was in the building that now houses the Rochester Fire Department, was the forerunner to RMS during the first half of the Twentieth Century. Santa Arrives344 viewsMattapoisett held its annual holiday celebration and tree lighting on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Shipyard Park. The rain couldn't dampen holiday spirits as visitors enjoyed delicious food and listened to Christmas music performed by the Showstoppers. Christmas Holiday Shop344 viewsSt. Anthonys and St. Ritas parishioners combined efforts to give the community a Christmas Holiday Shop and Celebration on Saturday, December 5, 2009. The basement of St. Anthonys church was decked out in snowflakes, wreaths, bells, bows, and a Santa sleigh. Santa listened patiently as children told him what they wanted for Christmas. Relay for Life344 viewsChildren went to the Center School in Mattapoisett to make their own ornaments and gifts at the Relay for Life workshop on December 6, 2009. For a $6 donation, children could pick from crafts like pine cone Christmas trees, clothes-pin reindeer, and foam ornaments paint, glitter and glue were in abundant supply.
