Corcordia Launches380 viewsMattapoisett resident Brian Kvilhaug will skipper the new fishing vessel, Concordia, which was launched in Fairhaven on Friday, December 2, 2011. The 95-foot, 199-ton steel scallop boat is the first built in the area in the past 50 years, and was built at D. N. Kelly’s shipyard in Fairhaven. The Concordia was christened by Allison Kvilhaug, daughter of the skipper. It replaces the original Concordia built in 1946. Photo by Tony Lopes.

Old Rochester Little League380 viewsThe Old Rochester Little League celebrated its Opening Day of the 2016 season on Saturday, April 30 at Gifford Park off Dexter Road in Rochester. The young athletes took part in the traditional Opening Day parade, which began at Dexter Park and concluded at Dexter Field. Hosted by the Mattapoisett Lions Club every year, the triathlon takes racers .25 miles from the shore of Town Beach and back, 10 miles bicycling through Mattapoisett, and 5K through the village around Ned’s Point Lighthouse.
