Octoberfest408 viewsThe Sippican Tennis Club was the site of the third annual Buzzard’s Bay Habitat for Humanity Octoberfest on September 19 in Marion Village. Music was provided by Felonious Funk, and party-goers enjoyed a wide array of finger foods and fine spirits. Friendly conversation lingered over the silent auction tables, which offered original oil paintings, handmade felted purses, memberships to the Wareham YMCA and the Marion Art Center, and plenty of gift certificate to area businesses. Powder Puff Football408 viewsORR held its annual Powder Puff football game on Tuesday, November 20. Girls from the junior and senior classes played full-field flag football under the lights in front of an excited crowd. ORRHS Principal Mike Devoll (in shorts) and Athletic Director Bill Tilden acted as referees during the one-hour game. Check out these photos from the game. The juniors are in green and the seniors are in black. Photos by Eric Tripoli.

Take a Hike!408 views In our first installment of “Take a Hike!” we visited Church’s Field in Rochester off Mattapoisett Road. This Rochester Land trust property is easily accessible, with off-road parking and a wide, mulched trail – and, despite the persistent occupation of winter, there is beauty to be found in every season in Tri-Town. The trail loops through a Holly tree grove, passing mossy glacial outcroppings of rocks, and leads to a river, where the historical ruins of the Church family saw mill wait to be rediscovered.
