Soles for Soul446 viewsORR high school and junior high school are participating in the “Soles for Souls” campaign to supply gently used shoes to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Teacher Margaret Benson said that it’s an attempt to help people who have “lost everything and can’t begin to repair without something to walk in”. The Eagle Has Landed446 viewsMarion resident Hope Vary was “blown away” to see a bald eagle perched in the trees above her 2010 Labor Day cookout. The eagle sighting in Marion was indicative of the population recovery that bald eagles are making in the United States. Hosted by the Mattapoisett Lions Club every year, the triathlon takes racers .25 miles from the shore of Town Beach and back, 10 miles bicycling through Mattapoisett, and 5K through the village around Ned’s Point Lighthouse.
