Salute to Scouts442 viewsMembers of Mattapoisett Boy Scout Troop 53 were recently commended by the Mattapoisett Board of Selectmen for their ongoing collection efforts in support of Cape Cod Cares for the Troops. The troop was given a citation from the U.S. Air Force along with an American flag that was flown over Kuwait. Holiday Tea442 views(from left) Jackie Scholz, Elizabeth Lonergan and Lucy Schwartz recently performed highlights from various Young People’s Theater productions at the Marion Art Center as part of the center’s Holiday Tea Party event which was held on Saturday, November 29. Guests were encouraged to join in the theme of “Annie” and “Samantha” by singing along to songs from the Broadway show and bringing their favorite dressed-up dolls or stuffed animals along with them. Sprinkler Activation at ORR442 viewsThe Mattapoisett and Marion Fire Departments responded to ORR High School at 10:03am on Friday May 8, for a reported fire alarm activation. Upon arrival they found that a sprinkler head had been activated in the auditorium due to heightened heat levels. The cause of the heat was found to be a stuck thermostat on a heater in that area. The students, who vacated the school when the fire alarm sounded, remained outside the school enjoying the warm sunny day as the fire department worked to resolve the issue.

Bikes, Bikes, Bikes!442 viewsThe Third Annual Pan Mass Challenge Kids Tri-Town Ride attracted several hundred young bicyclist to the ORR campus on Saturday morning, May 16, for a bike rally to help defeat cancer. Proceeds from the event will go to several charities in the state such as the Jimmy Fund and Dana- Farber Cancer Institute to assist in cancer research.
