Marion Natural History Museum519 viewsDuring Wednesday's “Soil Critters” afterschool program, students had the opportunity to learn about what makes up a healthy soil and how varying numbers of insects populate different types of soil. The soil from the compost pile had the highest number of animals, with 17 pill bugs, 26 worms, two beetles, 34 springtails, two millipedes and one nematode. Mom's Marathon '07518 viewsAn estimated 400 runners and walkers came out to the Oxford Creamery in Mattapoisett on Sunday, May 13 to participate in the first annual Tiara Classic Mothers Day 5K Road Race. The race was held to benefit the Womens Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts. Many of the runners donned tiaras and capes, making this event one of the more colorful local road races.
