Fish Story479 viewsThe Buzzards Bay Anglers Club hosted the First Annual Gus Casassa Scup Cup fishing tournament at the Mattapoisett Wharves on Saturday, July 11. The event attracted about 20 youngsters aged twelve and younger with each child receiving a new fishing rod and reel as part of their entry. Christmas Holiday Shop479 viewsSt. Anthony’s and St. Rita’s parishioners combined efforts to give the community a Christmas Holiday Shop and Celebration on Saturday, December 5, 2009. The basement of St. Anthony’s church was decked out in snowflakes, wreaths, bells, bows, and a Santa sleigh. Santa listened patiently as children told him what they wanted for Christmas. The race was held to benefit the Women’s Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts. Many of the runners donned tiaras and capes, making this event one of the more colorful local road races. Thirty-six artists and artisans offer a variety of jewelry, ceramics, clothing, cards, glass, ornaments, photography, paintings, puppets, ribbons, birds, scrimshaw, furniture and fiber.
