We met Milo the Fennec Fox and had a chance to compare attributes of Peter Quill the hedgehog to Iris the tenrec. We also met a skunk, a ferret, and a very friendly chinchilla. Mattapoisett Manatee5 viewsOn the morning of July 29, Erin Carr and five friends were on their morning run on the Mattapoisett Rail Trail when they stumbled upon a man (and dog) who directed them to a beached manatee. The gang got in touch with the Harbormaster and Mattapoisett Police, but before wildlife experts would arrive on the scene, the tide rose, and the manatee ventured back to sea. Mattapoisett Manatee5 viewsThe manatee found on the seashore of Mattapoisett Harbor on Tuesday, July 29. This photo was taken before the arrival of the Harbormaster or Police. Eventually, the tide rose, and the manatee safety swam back to sea on its own. Photo courtesy Erin Carr. August 14, 2025 edition
