Marion Natural History Museum7 viewsAfter learning how to build a snake hibernaculum, a beaver lodge, and a bear den, the group tried their hand at creating miniatures for museum display. The beaver lodge was tested to see if it held water back and still kept the lodge dry inside. It was a huge success! Marion Art Center7 viewsThe Marion Art Center opened its latest exhibit on Saturday featuring the pastel artistry of partners Janet Schwartz and Dave Kaphammer. For years, Kaphammer has been honing his talent for working in a medium that most other artists consider difficult: pastels. Through his vision for finding interesting subjects like abandoned tractors in a field or the way sunlight plays in shadows at the end of an afternoon, we are invited to enter his world of color and shape.

Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race6 viewsCompetitors in the Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race were greeted by fog and a high tide, but the sun burned through the cloud cover, and the competitors emerged on the home stretch to the finish line where the Mattapoisett River reaches Route 6.
