Old Rochester Youth Baseball League40 viewsThe first Opening Day since 2019 brought out Old Rochester Youth Baseball League players and their families on Saturday morning in Rochester. A parade began at the Dexter Lane baseball complex and made its way to Gifford Park, where ORYB’s David Arancio recognized the many years of service from Derek Mello, Peter Vieira and David Nelson, who all threw ceremonial first pitches. Oil Spill Drill40 viewsOn Tuesday, the Town of Mattapoisett hosted a MassDEP-sponsored training course in cooperation with the Town of Fairhaven, representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard, Nuka Research and Planning Group and Moran Environmental Recovery. Working the Mattapoisett Harbormaster boat piloted by P.J. Beaudoin were Assistant Harbormaster Robert Clavin and intern Robert Haskell, and on the Mattapoisett Fire Department boat were Firefighter Daniel Cortes and Lieutenant Ross Macedo.
