Our gracious hosts allowed us to explore the island beaches, streams, saltmarshes, open-water areas and Osprey nests. Some of the students who attend our programs had not been in a boat or explored an island before. The museum is so very thankful to the Moores for allowing us to explore and map the island. Blessing of the Fleet17 viewsThe Reverend Eric Fialho, rector at Saint Gabriel’s Parish, presided as the Town of Marion held its first-ever Blessing of the Fleet on January 1 in Sippican Harbor. One tradition well established the past half-dozen years was the sunflower in the outer harbor, where several vessels tied up to one another at the stern and aimed their bows outward toward the sea in 360-degree formation.
