The event included musical entertainment by Tri-County musicians, Grades 4 and 5 bands from Sippican Elementary School, Sippican Historical Society carolers and Tabor Academy students, horse-drawn carriage rides, street entertainment, seasonal refreshments courtesy of area merchants, goodie bags from VASE, and crafts for kids. Klim’s style of rapidly applied, single-layer brushstrokes presents the viewer with a sense of fresh breezes guiding the artist’s hand. Marion Natural History Museum44 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s Community group had a terrific morning doing some bird watching with Justin Barrett last week. Justin is the president of the Nasketucket Bird Club and longtime member of the museum’s Board of Directors. We saw 28 different species including a yellow rumpled warbler, a pine warbler, an eastern towhee, Downey woodpeckers, northern flickers and many chipping sparrows. Marion Natural History Museum44 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group attempted to get to Bird Island on May 22 to visit the nesting tern population. Unfortunately, due to high winds and rough surf, we didn’t get all the way out there but enjoyed getting soaked on the ride out. We stopped briefly at Ram Island to try to get a little dried off before heading home. The kids had a blast checking out the beach and collecting shells. Cardboard Boats44 viewsGrade 7 students at Old Rochester Regional Junior High School took to the beach on Tuesday morning for a field day at the Mattapoisett YMCA that featured a cardboard boat race.
