Marion Natural History Museum15 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum wishes to thank Officer David Wilson for the trip to view Bird Island to watch some of the unique birds that need the island for nesting. We saw plenty of terns catching fish and an Osprey hover and dive close to Ram Island. Officer Wilson also spent the time to show our kids how to tie up the boat we used and then helped us explore every inch of the patrol boat. Rochester Historical Society15 viewsMalcolm Phinney, his wife Kathy and Claire Smith and her husband Howard “Howie” wore period costumes and shared oral histories of early American life during the Rochester Historical Society’s Fun Fair with A Flair held on June 22. Children learned how to load a musket, Boy Scouts Troop 31 demonstrated archery skills, visitors enjoyed live music and baked goods and those who ducked inside the 1857 East Rochester Church were treated to an amazing display of artifacts. First Congregational Church of Marion Summer Fair15 viewsThe First Congregational Church of Marion Summer Fair was held on July 27 with an effort to raise funds for the restoration of its clock tower. Main Street was closed to traffic so visitors could enjoy several booths full of goods for sale, along with sports equipment, while visiting the Penny Pinchers’ Exchange, a lobster roll or a burger or dog from the grill.
