Llama Visit19 viewsLauren and Jeff Paine from Pine Meadow Farm in Mattapoisett brought Chocolate and Patience to visit the children at the Loft School on October 20. The Pre-K class has been learning about Peru this month. The children had a chance to ask questions, see what Alpacas eat, feel their shorn fur and pet their new friends. Halloween Parade19 viewsThe streets of Marion were flooded with Halloween Parade participants and attendees, as members of the Sippican Elementary School Band helped the “witches” of the Marion Art Center lead a procession that began at the Music Hall and went down Front Street, up Main Street past the Elizabeth Taber statue and onto Spring Street, where children were met at Town House by staff members handing out candy for the kids. Pumpkin Palooza19 viewsSaturday’s Pumpkin Palooza hosted by the Marion Council of Aging and the Recreation Department at the Cushing Community Center. Families decorated pumpkins, and children enjoyed face painting, a hula-hoop contest, dancing, a visit from Pine Meadow Farm animals and refreshments supported by Tabor Academy volunteers. Pumpkins were later illuminated, giving the pavilion an eerie weekend presence. Sixty-five families preregistered to participate in the event inspired by Marion citizen Dianne Cosman

Old Rochester Regional Unified Basketball19 viewsThe Old Rochester Regional Unified Basketball team capped off its 2022-23 season with a 72-51 victory over Tri-Town Police officers at the high school. Try as they might, the local officers were unable to contain ORR’s Unified team, made up of special-needs athletes and partners who together played a fall schedule of games against other schools.

Howard Tinkham19 viewsHoward Tinkham’s 100th birthday was celebrated on Sunday with a parade that went from the Florence Eastman Post 280 American Legion in Mattapoisett out to Ned’s Point Lighthouse and back, followed by a party at the hall featuring “God Bless America” and “Happy Birthday” sung by the Showstoppers and refreshments for the many citizens who attended to express their appreciation for all that Tinkham has meant to the town.
