Arbor Day101 viewsMattapoisett's Tree Committee held its annual Arbor Day poster contest in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation on March 2. Forty-three Old Hammondtown fifth-grade students participated in this year's contest. The winner will have their poster with the theme "It’s time for trees" entered into the state-wide competition. The poster contest is an ongoing effort by the Tree Committee to enlighten children regarding the importance of trees in our landscapes.

Community Block Party101 viewsIt was a party for all ages when the Rochester Council on Aging hosted a Community Block Party on June 22. Local 4-H clubs brought animals, while Rochester's Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops provided games that included a soft-ax throw and soft archery-challenge games.
