Marion Natural History Museum19 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's Coastal Exploration group had a wonderful time last week exploring Marion's shoreline, inland wetlands and woodland areas. We collected examples of plankton, caught fish and frogs in our nets, investigated tide pools and took trips to Bird and Ram Island. The museum would like to thank Hannah Moore and David Wilson and Andrew Miller of the Marion Harbormaster Department for their help in making it such a special week. Great Picnic19 viewsAttendees at Friday night’s “Great Picnic” on the one-acre Munro preserve overlooking Mattapoisett Harbor enjoyed live music and adorned their tables with creatively competitive centerpieces featuring everything from a palm tree to pickleballs. Mattapoisett Land Trust Vice President Peter Davies told the Wanderer that the Mattapoisett Museum and the MLT have jointly organized the event for five nonconsecutive years. Proceeds from the annual event support their programs. Photos by Mick Colageo

Marion Town Party19 views Marion Town Party on August 27 at Silvershell Beach. Inflatable arcade games, cornhole, an informal football toss and an undefinable ball game inside a walled octagon kept kids running and laughing, while their parents and grandparents socialized over barbecue and beverages. Seahorse Gives Back19 viewsEach year, Mattapoisett Recreation's Seahorse Explorer's program hosts a "Seahorse Gives Back" week at our camp. This year, Buzzards Bay Coalition was chosen to be the recipient of their fundraising efforts, presenting the coalition with a check for $390. This is an organization we are thrilled for our program to support, and we hope our campers remain stewards of the Buzzards Bay Coalition for years to come. Photo courtesy Greta Fox
