Highway Fire52 viewsOn December 29, Mattapoisett and Marion Fire departments prevented multiple fires set along Route 195 eastbound from reaching the woods. Mattapoisett Fire Department reported on its Facebook page, responding with Chief 1, Engine 1, Engine 2 and Engine 4 to a reported “small fire” on Route 195 eastbound between the Mattapoisett and Marion exits. A 100-foot-long, active brush fire was confirmed, moving into the “wood line.” Soon thereafter, more fires were discovered along 195, including one that was estimate
