Shining Tides Multiuse Pathway22 viewsThe official opening of the Shining Tides multiuse pathway took place on June 12 with approximately 75 people gathered to applaud the 20-year effort. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation hosted the ribbon-cutting event where the elevated bridge span crosses the Mattapoisett River and Eel Pond marshlands. Oil Slick22 viewsMultiple government agencies, including Mattapoisett Fire Rescue and Harbormaster and Marion Harbormaster responded Sunday to the Cleveland Ledge area of Buzzards Bay after a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter spotted an oil slick that U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Ryan Noel said the oil slick in Buzzards Bay was approximately a mile long and 150 to 300 feet wide, according to a Facebook post made by the Marion Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department.
