Mattapoisett Public Library130 viewsOn March 19, the Mattapoisett Public Library hosted another chapter in their sustainability programing with a taste testing of plant-based alternatives to cow's milk. "Milk" from oatmeal, almonds, coconuts, rice, flax seed, soy and even hemp were sipped and evaluated on several criteria including taste. The consensus was mixed with some milks tasting too strongly of their base ingredient such as almonds, too sweet and even too salty, while others passed the test.

Volunteers at Sippican Elementary130 viewsVolunteers at Sippican Elementary (VASE) hosted their fourth Boosterthon Fun Run fundraiser last week. VASE works with Booster, a company that helps raise funds for enrichment activities such as in-school performances, field trips and afterschool programs. Students reached out to friends, family and businesses across 30 states and 7 countries; 87 percent of the student body registered with 79 percent earning donations for Sippican.

Touched-A-Truck130 viewsOn Saturday May 21 children crawled into and Touched-A-Truck at Washburn Park in Marion. The event was sponsored by the Marion Recreation Department in partnership with Marion’s Police, Fire and DPW departments. Marion Natural History Museum130 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's July Coastal Exploration group had a fun week exploring some of Marion's natural areas. We examined green frog tadpoles and a frog metamorphosis, were invited to explore Ram Island, visited the donkeys and learned about filter feeders, including some of the largest ones like whales.
