Arts in Action46 viewsSippican Elementary School students participated in the annual "Arts in Action" show last week. During the event, younger attendees enjoyed a series of crafting table activities, including painting, weaving, creating sculptures and much more. Lions Club Triathlon46 views2024 Old Rochester High School graduate Tyler Young of Marion and Heather Peckham of Middletown, Rhode Island, finished first in the respective men’s and women’s categories of Sunday morning’s Lions Club Triathlon at the Mattapoisett Town Beach. Marion Art Center45 viewsLaser wood-cutting techniques used by artist Makerjake, aka Jacob Ginga, combine contemporary themes with those of his native heritage. Together with Narragansett tribal member Max Brown-Garcia, who has supplied Native American regalia pieces, and Vincent Mancini's creations from cut feathers, these sacred works are part of the Marion Art Center’s indigenous art exhibit, “Exploring Native American Culture: Art, Craft and Inspiration,” through March 25. After Class Enrichment 45 viewsPerforming arts and drama courses were offered as part of this year's After Class Enrichment (A.C.E.) sessions at Sippican Elementary School. Students combined painted glass and sand art, assisted by Tabor After School Community Service Volunteers, created clay handles for their vases as part of a collaborative project with the Marion Historical Society, participated in 3D printing, and worked on "Once Upon a Time" STEAM activities.
