The children enjoyed a full, exciting week of creative projects, interactive Bible stories and lots of recreational games. Tornado in Mattapoisett47 viewsAn EF-1 tornado touched down late Tuesday morning in Mattapoisett. The unusual weather event downed power lines and hundreds of trees, knocking out power to many homes north of Route 195. Television news crews descended from Boston, as the Mattapoisett Fire and Police departments worked with utility companies and many power lines to clean up roads and assist area residents coming home to frightening scenes. This less-expensive version of the popular drink available in coffee shops was a big hit locally, and the two children, ages 8 and 7 respectively, donated the $102 they received in tips to the Fairhaven Animal Shelter.
