First Congregational Church of Marion 47 viewsThe First Congregational Church of Marion welcomed a group of enthusiastic and energetic children from Kindergarten to sixth grade to the church's Vacation Bible School held August 15-19. The children enjoyed a full, exciting week of creative projects, interactive Bible stories and lots of recreational games. Tornado in Mattapoisett47 viewsAn EF-1 tornado touched down late Tuesday morning in Mattapoisett. The unusual weather event downed power lines and hundreds of trees, knocking out power to many homes north of Route 195. Television news crews descended from Boston, as the Mattapoisett Fire and Police departments worked with utility companies and many power lines to clean up roads and assist area residents coming home to frightening scenes.
