Tornado in Mattapoisett59 viewsAn EF-1 tornado touched down late Tuesday morning in Mattapoisett. The unusual weather event downed power lines and hundreds of trees, knocking out power to many homes north of Route 195. Television news crews descended from Boston, as the Mattapoisett Fire and Police departments worked with utility companies and many power lines to clean up roads and assist area residents coming home to frightening scenes. Marion Natural History Museum58 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group had a wonderful time setting off their rockets on June 9. Despite the blistering hot weather, the rockets were all successfully launched, and the parachutes deployed (most of the time). The students had built their rockets at home before the program with a YouTube video created by the program's presenter, Mike Cronin.
