Marion 4th of July Parade149 viewsMarion Town Administrator Jay McGrail and Select Board members Norm Hills, John Waterman, and Randy Parker walked the Independence Day parade route on Monday morning along with veterans, marching bands, Boy and Girl Scout troops, youth baseball teams, decorated floats, fire engines, and a convoy of antique cars. Beginning at the Town House, the parade route went up Spring Street, then east on Route 6 before going right onto Front Street all the way down to Main Street and back up to Spring. Photos by Ryan F

Andrew Daniel, Rochester facilities manager who was instrumental in bringing the petition to Nelson’s attention, and Dexter’s sister Debbie Townsend both shared words with the packed house that turned out in Dexter’s honor.

Salty's Silvery Moon Soiree149 viewsOn the evening of October 23, the Mattapoisett Land Trust hosted its annual Salty’s Silvery Moon Soiree at Dunseith Gardens. The yearly autumn event finds families gathering around a roaring fire pit and toasting marshmallows or creating delicious desserts while listening to live music. Front Street and connecting village roads were partially closed for the event, as families enjoyed refreshments provided by area merchants at their doorsteps and along the roads. Clydesdale horses escorted Santa Claus and passengers, while the Sippican Elementary School Band played, Tabor Academy student singer Wesley Lai of Hong Kong sang, and a bike rider juggled bowling pins.
