ORR Field Hockey175 viewsEach year, the Old Rochester Regional High School field hockey team members engage in a community service project. This year, on September 15, they went to "Sharing the Harvest Community Farm" at the YMCA of Dartmouth. The team worked hard in planting and preparing the fields for the next set of crops. Ned’s Point Lighthouse175 viewsTuesday afternoon offered a sneak preview of the reopening of Ned’s Point Lighthouse scheduled for Saturday, October 9, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Cathy Hardy and Mike Lally, a Texas couple, happened to be in the right place at the right time to become the first visitors to the 183-year-old lighthouse that had been closed for the past two years and three months. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus175 viewsMr. and Mrs. Santa Claus make their turn through Rochester Village onto New Bedford Road on December 5. Transported by the Rochester Fire Department on a journey that began at Fire Station No. 3 at 200 Ryder Road and accompanied by Santa’s helpers riding along in trucks, Mr. and Mrs. Claus made their way down many Rochester roads, spending hours to visit hundreds of children waiting at the end of their driveways and on street corners. Marion Village Stroll175 viewsCars lined several Marion streets as residents gathered for the town’s Christmas Stroll on December 12. Front Street and connecting village roads were partially closed for the event, as families enjoyed refreshments provided by area merchants at their doorsteps and along the roads. Clydesdale horses escorted Santa Claus and passengers, while the Sippican Elementary School Band played, Tabor Academy student singer Wesley Lai of Hong Kong sang, and a bike rider juggled bowling pins.
