Volunteers at Sippican Elementary104 viewsVolunteers at Sippican Elementary (VASE) hosted their fourth Boosterthon Fun Run fundraiser last week. VASE works with Booster, a company that helps raise funds for enrichment activities such as in-school performances, field trips and afterschool programs. Students reached out to friends, family and businesses across 30 states and 7 countries; 87 percent of the student body registered with 79 percent earning donations for Sippican.

Marion Natural History Museum104 viewsOn June 8, the Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group enjoyed a wonderful trip to Ram Island in Marion. The students watched various crabs in the salt marsh, visited several of the occupied Osprey nests and walked the shoreline looking for shells. We also had the opportunity to visit Clara and Darcy, the Moore’s pet donkeys. Tri-Town firefighters104 viewsThe holidays were challenging for Tri-Town firefighters. Marion and Rochester fire departments were among towns assisting Wareham after a mulch pile in a remote location off County Road caught fire on Christmas Eve. Firefighters worked in cold temperatures for eight hours, dispensing approximately 200,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire. Seen supporting Wareham Fire Chief John Kelley and 29 Wareham Fire personnel at the scene were Marion Fire Tanker 1, Lieutenant Michael Still and Captain Joel Watte

Ocean Guardian Youth Ambassadors104 viewsFour freshmen from the Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School’s Environmental Technology Program applied for and are now Ocean Guardian Youth Ambassadors through National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Marine Sanctuaries Program.
