Sippican Elementary Car Wash75 viewsSippican Elementary sixth graders turned Saturday's car wash into a fire engine wash, creating a waterfall of suds and having the kind of fun kids normally associate with what happens on the weekends before school is back in session. Organized by Volunteers at Sippican Elementary (VASE), the school's 501(c)(3) non-profit parent-teacher organization, the event held at the Marion school's bus loop off Main Street raised money for the students' mountain classroom trip, a three-day excursion planned for June 20

Ned’s Point Lighthouse75 viewsTuesday afternoon offered a sneak preview of the reopening of Ned’s Point Lighthouse scheduled for Saturday, October 9, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Cathy Hardy and Mike Lally, a Texas couple, happened to be in the right place at the right time to become the first visitors to the 183-year-old lighthouse that had been closed for the past two years and three months. Marion Lagoon75 viewsThe forebay wall is in place at Marion's Wastewater Treatment Plant lagoon. Solids will be processed to the northwest side of the concrete wall, right, and liquids in the larger area of the lagoon on the southeast side, according to DPW Director Nathaniel Munafo. A liner made up of over 30 pieces is on site awaiting final surface grading by Methuen Construction and the installation of a Multiflo infrastructural piping system.

Mattapoisett Trees75 viewsThe Mattapoisett Tree Committee is proud that Emma Lowe, winner of this year’s 5th grade poster contest, has also won first place in the statewide Massachusetts poster contest. Emma is a student of art teacher Greta Anderson at Old Hammondtown School. The school received a Kousa Dogwood tree from the state to plant on the O.H.S. grounds, as shown in the picture. Emma’s classmates helped to plant this beautiful tree for all to enjoy for years to come. Congratulations to Emma and Ms. Anderson for a great job
