30th Annual Tri-Town Thanksgiving Banquet for Seniors90 viewsOver 170 seniors from the Tri-Towns enjoyed a full turkey dinner served by over 60 Grade 7-8 student volunteers at the 30th Annual Tri-Town Thanksgiving Banquet for Seniors held on Nov. 19 at the Old Rochester Regional Junior High School. Over 50 door prizes included holiday gift sets, small home items, gift cards and over 60 meals were sent as to-go meals to Tri-Town and Wareham Council on Aging locations for seniors unable to attend the banquet in person. They shared the true meaning of Christmas with music, joy and fun for everyone present! Keep on Plungin’ 90 viewsThe annual Keep on Plungin’ New Year’s Day swim drew well over 100 participants to Mattapoisett Town Beach, continuing a tradition started in 2013 by Will and Michelle Huggins to help families facing expenses related to cancer care. In the last two years, the community-driven effort has benefitted three families and Dana Farber with a $1,000 donation in Huggins’ honor. Brownie Girl Scout Troop 89 viewsBrownie Girl Scout Troop 67047 hiked the Sippican Land Trust Osprey walk in Marion on Sunday. Ms. Jerline used her Nature Anatomy book to help the girls identify plants. Ms. Liz and Ms. Alda helped the girls carry a tune as they learned three new songs for their Girl Scout Way badge. Ms. Tia helped remind them to maintain their 6 feet of distance with her yardstick and keep their masks on— they did so well! We welcomed a new girl from Acushnet.
