Marion Food Pantry 95 viewsThe Marion Food Pantry is almost set to open at the Cushing Community Center. Hours will be Tuesdays from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and on Thursdays and Saturdays from 10:00 am to noon, according to Council on Aging Director Karen Gregory. The pilot program will begin by offering nonperishable food and household items and is considering expanding to Mattapoisett and Rochester, adding perishable food offerings contingent on available storage.

Marion Natural History Museum94 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum after-school group had a wonderful time learning about the Eastern Box Turtle with Brian Butler of Oxbow Associates, Inc. Brian explained why land turtles are rounder than turtles that live in water, and that turtles have been on earth for 200 million years. Box turtles protect themselves by pulling their heads and legs into their shell and closing up, however they don't move very fast.
