Library Zoo105 viewsLauren Paine of Pine Meadows Farm located in Mattapoisett, along with her father, Jeff, brought members of their “herd” to the Elizabeth Taber Library in Marion on July 8. Well over 100 people of all ages enjoyed the opportunity to visit with and learn about exotic animals. The younger members of the crowd listened intently as they heard about the eating habits and habitats of bearded dragons, Nigerian goats, lop-eared rabbits, tortoises, and alpacas, for which the farm is known. Salty 100 Regatta105 viewsRed Shift reaches the finish line of the inaugural Salty 100 regatta, raced August 27-28 from Marion harbor beyond Point Judith, Rhode Island, and back. Red Shift, skippered by Jo Riley of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, finished the race in 21 hours, 14 minutes and 15 seconds and was runner-up among the 11 boats in the PHRF 145 class. Empty Bowls105 viewsOn Thursday November 18, 2021, the Tri-Town community came together to support student artists and their activism to help neighbors in need. The Old Rochester Regional High School Art department hosted its second "Empty Bowls" event. This Fall, students in both Ms. Butler’s and Ms. Mogilnicki’s art classes designed and created ceramic bowls. On the night of the event, patrons made a donation and chose a one-of-a-kind, work of art for their soup.

Rochester Historical Commission105 viewsOn December 4, the Rochester Historical Commission presented a plaque to the Women’s Club noting the building's age. The plaque was attached to the building by George Owen and Tim Bates. These plaques are being donated by the commission to some of the town buildings used by the community with a hope of sharing town history. We will be extending this to residents who will be able to purchase a plaque for their historic home.

Mancini’s work, along with laser-wood creations by Native American artist Makerjake, aka Jacob Ginga, and regalia pieces supplied by Narragansett tribal member Max Brown-Garcia, is on display as part of the “Exploring Native American Culture: Art, Craft, and Inspiration” exhibit at the Marion Art Center through March 25. Mattapoisett Bike Path105 viewsPlanking for the bike path is under test review, and the installation of railings along the elevated sections of railings can be seen from the Reservation Road portion of Phase 1b of the Mattapoisett Bike Path. Town Administrator Mike Lorenco said that although a different type of planking material is being tested, the town will not accept the project for ownership until MassDOT enters into a joint-ownership agreement and/or provides bonding assurances in the event of material failure as previous experience

Howard Tinkham105 viewsHoward Tinkham’s 100th birthday was celebrated on Sunday with a parade that went from the Florence Eastman Post 280 American Legion in Mattapoisett out to Ned’s Point Lighthouse and back, followed by a party at the hall featuring “God Bless America” and “Happy Birthday” sung by the Showstoppers and refreshments for the many citizens who attended to express their appreciation for all that Tinkham has meant to the town.
